PISTOL PERMIT APPLICATION
REQUIREMENTS

 

Documents to bring to the Town Office Building:

  • Completed application (must be notarized) Click here to download a copy of the Pistol Permit Application. 
  • Passport OR Birth Certificate AND Photo Identification
  • Certificate of Competency to Handle Firearms (NRA Certificate)

Fingerprints:

  • You need to get your fingerprints taken at the Department of Safety located at 1111 Country Club Road, Middletown between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.
  • You have the option to pre-enroll by following the instructions at the following link: https://ct.flexcheck.us.idemia.io/CCHRSPreEnroll/
  • The Town of Haddam Service Code is: 66BC-B8B7
  • You will be asked to pay the fee electronically. ($13.25 for the federal processing and $75.00 for the State processing, a total of $86.25)

Approval/Denial:

  • When your Federal & State background checks are completed, you will receive a call indicating your temporary pistol permit is ready for pick-up. You will need to pay the Town of Haddam $70.00 via check or cash.
  • Finally, take your Temporary Pistol Permit to the Department of Safety with $70.00 to obtain your 5-year pistol permit.
  • If you are denied you will receive a letter in the mail. You will have the opportunity to appeal the denial.
