Marriage License Information

In Connecticut, a marriage license must be obtained from the town in which the wedding ceremony is to take place. The license is valid for 65 days from date of application.

Both spouses must personally appear at the Town Clerk's Office. A driver's license/passport or other form of picture ID is required.

A list of Justices of the Peace, are attached below. Arrangements can be made directly with the Justice you select. Anyone who has become ordained, either through a traditional religious organization or on-line, is authorized to perform marriages.

Before coming into the office, please download and complete the marriage license application and email it to the Town Clerk (see e-mail address below). Upon receipt of your completed application, we will contact you to review your worksheet and schedule an appointment.

Marriage Licenses are issued during the days and times listed below:
Tuesday and Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Fee for license : $50.00
Certified copies : $20.00 (we recommend one certified copy)
Cash or Check only. NO cards accepted.
