Special Town Meeting - Legal Notice

At the Board of Selectmen's Meeting on January 17, 2024 the Board voted to remove items #2 & #3 from the call. The meeting on January 25th will include the items listed from the Annual Town Meeting Legal Notice as well as #4 of the Legal Notice below.
 
There will also be a public discussion on the Rossi Property immediately following the Town Meeting on January 25th.

Special Town Meeting
Town of Haddam

 

The electors and citizens qualified to vote at Town Meetings are hereby warned and notified that the Special Town Meeting will be held at the Firehouse Community Hall located at 439 Saybrook Road, Haddam CT on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. for the following purposes:

1. To Choose a Moderator to preside over such meeting and to consider and act upon the following:

To approve the sale of real estate and authorize the First Selectman to enter into a purchase and sale agreement, including required easements between the 300 Saybrook road property and the former HES property, with Higganum Village, LLC for the sale of the town owned property at 300 Saybrook road for $250,000 and an investment into the property equal to or exceeding $5 million. All construction subject to review by Higganum Center Architectural Review Committee and approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission

3. To consider and approve the grant application and a project of $1,500,000 from the State Department of Economic and Community Development Brownfield Grant for remediation of the former Rossi property. 

WHEREAS, State grant monies are available to provide funding for projects that improve livability, vibrancy, convenience and appeal in communities as well as create jobs. 

WHEREAS, the proposed project would be the remediation of the former Rossi property to allow development of the property. 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the grant application and a project appropriation of $1,500,000 for the Remediation of the Former Rossi from the State Department of Economic and Community Development Office be approved and the First Selectman is authorized to enter into, and execute all documents necessary.  

4. To consider and approve the transfer of $100,000 to HES Roof & Recreation Upgrades (17-30-310-23-31003) from CNR - Unallocated for playscape improvements at the former Haddam Elementary School.
